New Year's Resolutions

Happy New Year's!

Today I'm going to talk about New Year's Resolutions. I don't really make any, but this year, I have a few. Here they are:
  1. To write better. I want to enhance my writing more.
  2. To get better grades. Even though my grades are already pretty good, I like all A's.
  3. To have more family time. As I mentioned before, my family either watches a movie or plays a game together.
There are also a few other private ones that I'm not going to share.
What are your New Year's Resolutions? Tell me below in the comments section.

Fun Fact: Each empire (ex: Rome, Babylon, etc.) made New Year's Resolutions on the first day of their calender. Babylonian new years started on March 23.

More Stuff About Me

Hello again!

Today I'm going to tell you some more stuff about me. Here we go:
  • I'm a perfectionist in grades. I like to get A's. I'm sad over a B. (Don't laugh at me.)
  • I have a book obsession. You probably already know this, but you might not know how serious it is.
  • I really like museums. I like history museums best. Sometimes I like science museums too if there are hands-on projects. My dream is to visit every part of the Smithsonian.
  • I love to draw and paint. I got an easel as a Christmas present with a whiteboard, a chalkboard, and paper.
That's pretty much it for now. I'll tell you guys more if I think of some. Tell me something about yourself in the comments section. (Remember, this is a public blog, so whatever you post will be on the Internet. Don't post anything personal.)

Fun Fact: James Smithson was the founder of the Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C.

Winter Break

Hello readers!

Now that Christmas is over, I have a lot more free time because now I'm not preparing gifts to send. I plan on practicing some piano, and then spending time reading (which I totally love) and playing electronics. Then, of course, I have to do chores (blah). I just got back from shopping with my mom. Now that Christmas just ended, stores everywhere are having a huge sale. I just got a really cute new dress!
What are you doing over winter break? Comment below!

Fun Fact: The song "Winter Wonderland" was written by Richard B. Smith. This is one of my favorite songs!
I know the fun fact is a little off topic but, hey, it's winter.

Happy Winter!

Christmas Dessert

Hey guys!

In my last post, I wrote my list of things to do. One of them was to make the chocolate pretzel dessert thing. I've finished and I would like to show them to you. Here they are!
Delicious!
Sorry about the blurriness in the photo. But trust me, these are great! Just get chocolate chips, pretzel sticks, and toffee bits. Melt the chocolate chips till they're liquid chocolate. Dip pretzel stick in. Then sprinkle toffee over it. Try it, and tell me what you think!

Happy Eating!

Christmas Eve!

Merry Christmas readers!

Tween Blogger here again! I have so many things to do to prepare for tomorrow! Here's my list:
  1. Finish this post.
  2. Redecorate the Christmas tree because my dad took the top part down to see if he could fix the lights. We have a fake tree, and he couldn't fix it, but now we have to put the ornaments back on.
  3. Make chocolate pretzel sticks with toffee. They are amazing! Get giant, fat pretzel sticks, melt chocolate chips, dip pretzel sticks in chocolate, dip in toffee bits, and put it in the fridge. Delicious!
  4. Spend time with my family!
I have Christmas music on from the radio, so Christmas is in the air in my household! Can't wait for Christmas!

No fun fact.

Santa Claus is Coming to Town

Hey Readers!

I thought I might do a post about Santa today. Santa Claus was made from a guy named Saint Nicholas. Every Christmas Saint Nicholas would go around to the poor giving necessities: food, water, clothing, etc. Eventually, Saint Nick died and people made stories about Santa Claus. So the next time you get a present, think about Saint Nick and what God put in his heart to help the poor.

Why Stars?

Merry Christmas!

Have you ever wondered why stars are put on Christmas trees? Well, if you did, here is the answer: the star symbolizes the star that the wise men saw on Christmas. Funny thing is, the Bible doesn't say how many wise men there were, or if they were kings. It just says that there were three gifts: gold, frankinsence, and myrrh. But they were wise men, called Magi. The Magi followed the star in the sky to Jesus Christ. So now, we put stars on our Christmas trees? (But, to tell you the truth, I put an angel on mine!)

No fun fact because this entire post was a fun fact.

Decorating the Christmas Tree

Hello readers!

A few days ago, my mom and I decorated the Christmas tree. To get in the spirit of Christmas, I put on some Christmas music softly and it was so relaxing. My mom and I loved it! If you've done something like this, tell me in the comments section. I would love to hear all about it!
I really don't have anything to blog about. Please tell me more things to blog. I'm really running out.

Christmas Poem

Hey guys!

Here's a poem I wrote a few years back about Christmas. I was in third grade, so if it isn't that good, you can't blame me!

What Christmas Means to Me

What Christmas means to me,
Is that Jesus is the key.
He died on the cross,
And now we are not lost.
Let Christmas trees and candy canes,
Help us go down the right lane.
Jesus loves us all,
For the price has been paid,
By Him.

10 days until Christmas! I still have to do my Christmas shopping!

Fun Fact: Christmas trees stand for eternity, like Jesus is. Candy canes are shaped like a shepherd's crook, just as God is our shepherd. I've also heard the the red stands for Jesus' blood and the white stands for the purity.

Smiles everywhere!

Christmas Spectacular

Sup!

Hey Readers! I just got back from the Bethel Christmas Spectacular! Bethel is a church that is really, really talented in putting on shows. Every year, they put on something called Christmas Spectacular. Everything is so wonderful! My favorite is the tradition of The Twelve Days of Christmas. It is so much fun! This year, the last show is on Sunday, December 15 at 4:00 pm. Sorry for the short notice! If you plan on going any other year, though, note that it's always packed. So get there, like, one hour to 45 minutes early if you want good seats! Here's their website: http://www.christmasspectacular.org/.
It's kind of my family's tradition to go there. Hope you can go!

Fun Fact: The Christmas Spectacular began in the 1970's. (You can get more info by clicking the address and clicking "History."

Xmas

Hey again!

Tween Blogger with a news flash. A couple days ago, in the post Happy Birthday, Jesus!, I said not to say "Happy Holidays" or something because it doesn't show the true meaning of Christmas: Christ. Well, today my teacher found out the "Xmas" is actually okay. The "X" actually means "Christ" in Greek! Everyone in my class was so surprised. Hope this was news to you too!

No fun fact today because this entire post was basically a fun fact.

Wish you a very merry Christmas!

Cupcake Baking

Hey guys!

I'm into baking, and I love decorating my cupcakes! I'm thinking of a Christmas batch. What designs do you think would look good? A star, a tree, anything! Just comment it and I'll think about it. When I do make the cupcakes, I'll be sure to take a photo and post it here!

Fun Fact: Cupcakes were convenient back in the past because cakes were too big and took too much time to bake.

Gingerbread Houses

Sup Readers!

I love gingerbread house decorating, although my house never really stands. The only time it stood was when in class we used a shoebox to outline it. I made a Target, but it was really ugly. This year, my class is going to make houses again! I've always liked making different designs for my house. I also really like eating it. I've got a BIG sweet tooth. All the sugar and candy is so tasty!
Do you like gingerbread houses? Answer below in the comments section!

Fun Fact: Gingerbread houses came from the fairytale: Hansel and Gretel.

P.S. I didn't make the gingerbread house below. I found it on the Internet.

O Christmas Tree!

Hey guys!

Every year, I love putting up my Christmas tree. We have a fake one since my mom and I have allergies. It's kind of a tradition for my mom and dad to put it up, and for my mom and me to decorate it. We have tons of ornaments! We even have an angel to put on top. Do you chop down a tree, or do you just buy a fake one to use every year? Do you use ornaments, or do you use something else like popcorn strands or something? Answer these questions below!

Fun Fact: The evergreen tree is used to stand for "eternity."

Homemade Christmas Decorations

Ho, ho, ho!

Tween Blogger here with some homemade Christmas decoration ideas. These are all from the Internet, so if you don't know what I'm talking about, you can search them up. I hope you like them!

  1. Snowman head out of popsicle sticks. Use buttons for the face.
  2. Paper snowflake. I don't know how to show you how to make it, so your going to have to search this up.
  3. Paper or foam ornaments. These are fun because you can make them however you like. You can even glitterize them.
  4. Pinecones with puffballs. I'll have a picture below to show you what I mean.
My personal favorite are the ornaments. I love thinking of new designs for them! Which one is your favorite? Comment it below!

Fun Fact: Before Christmas ornaments were invented, people used fruit, nuts, and popcorn and cranberry strands. Then people began to use paper streamers and bits of shiny metal foil. The first glass ornaments were made by a German glass-making company.

Many blessings,

Happy Birthday, Jesus!

Hello!

In my profile, I wrote that I'm a Christian. So during Christmas, I don't celebrate Santa Claus (though I do still get presents from him. I know that they are my parents.) or presents (though I do love getting them). I remember Jesus' birth. I also go to a Christian school, so every year, we have a Christmas musical. I really enjoy singing and acting in it. Christmas isn't all about presents or getting stuff. It's about giving and celebrating baby Jesus. Even if you aren't Christian, always remember that giving is better than getting.
Also, my Bible teacher said that you shouldn't say "Happy Holidays" or "Seasons Greetings" or something like that. Saying "Merry Christmas" will remind you of the real meaning: Jesus. The word "Christmas" has "Christ" in it.

Fun Fact: Jesus was born in a stable, in a manger. (My sources for this was the Bible, not the Internet.)

Be cheerful!

Being Kind

Howdy!

It's Tween Blogger again! I have seen a poster everywhere: at school, online, at my extracurricular activies. I really like it, so I'm gonna share it with you today. Maybe you've seen it somewhere too.

Before you speak...
Think!
T- Is it True?
H- Is it Helpful?
I- Is it Inspiring?
N- Is it Necessary?
K- Is it Kind?

I admire whoever came up with this, cause it's true. Always think before you say something. Also, it would be a good idea to put yourself in that person's shoes. If that was said to you, how would you feel? Think about it.

Fun Fact: The Think Before You Speak thing is a television, radio, and magazine campaign made in 2008.

Bye-bye,

Book Review

What's up, Readers?

It's Tween Blogger here, with another book to recommend to you! It's called Little Women and Me by Lauren Baratz-Logsted. It's about this girl named Emily who gets sucked into the book Little Women. Everyone acts as if she was already part of the book. It's hilarious to read about how she tries to fit in with the rest of the characters. Emily also has to worry about whether she'll ever get out of the book or not! Read it to find what happens. Take a look at this book!

Fun Fact: Little Women's author, Louisa May Alcott, was born on November 29, 1832 in Germantown, Pennsylvania. She died on March 6, 1888. She had three sisters.

Skiing

Hi readers!

I'm at Lake Tahoe right now. I like to ski, and usually, when we go, I rush right down the hill. I'm more a beginning intermediate level person. My problem is that when the snow gets icy, when people almost hit me, anything like that, I get REALLY scared. During this ski trip, it was kind of crowded. It was also a little icy. So, naturally, I froze. The first two days of skiing were frightening. But on the last day, it was amazing. I guess I got over it. Here are some tips if you ever get scared:

  1. Keep telling yourself that you can do it.
  2. Concentrate.
  3. It might also help if you do something you love. Sometimes, when I'm skiing, I sing quietly. I have more fun that way.
Try these the next time you get a chance. Also, in the comments section, answer this question: Do you ski or snowboard, or do you just like to go sledding?

Fun Fact: Lake Tahoe is the second deepest lake in the U.S. It is also the tenth deepest lake in the world.

Thanksgiving

Hello again!

Tween Blogger here! Thanksgiving is coming up, and I just wanted to share some of my feelings on this. Sometimes, we can be a little ungrateful. I know I can! When you catch yourself, think about what you already have. I haven't told you guys this yet, but I have a peanut allergy. It really sucks to see people all around you eat candy or chocolate or something that you can't eat (I'm a chocolate lover. I got a big sweet tooth, too). I learned to count my blessings. A good little activity to do during Thanksgiving feasts is to make a list of things your thankful for. It helps open up the dinner!

To celebrate Thanksgiving, I would like you to comment below on things that you are grateful for. Tell me all about it!

Fun Facts:

  1. The original Thanksgiving feast lasted for three days! Nowadays, there's just a dinner.
  2. There was no turkey. They ate ducks, geese, and deer.
  3. No pumpkin pie. Pumpkin, but no pie.
  4. No women or children. Just men. 50 pilgrim men and 90 Native Americans.
  5. Pilgrims didn't wear fancy buckles or anything like that. They most likely wore rags.
  6. There was seafood. No one would imagine that they ate seafood.
Those are just some. There are lots more!

Thanks for tuning in,
Tween Blogger

Fun Things to Do

Hi readers!

You know how sometimes, you've finished all your homework, housechores, etc... there's nothing to do? Don't turn on the TV. Find something else. Here are some ideas:

  1. Read. It doesn't matter what you read. Magazines, books, comics... they all work!
  2. Find a fun craft. You might be a true artsy person at heart.
  3. Paint or draw. Again, a little art never hurt.
  4. Call a friend and chat (with a parent's permission, of course). I just love to talk about random stuff with my buddies.
  5. Make up stories. Occaisonally, I lay on my bed and start daydreaming. Then, if you want, you could write down the story and share it.
These are just a few suggestions. There are lots more that I'm sure are great! Try these out, and tell me which one is your favorite!

Veterans' Day 2013

Happy Veterans' Day!!!

I'm Tween Blogger here again with a poem. I wrote this for my school's Veterans' Day Chapel. I hope you like it!

We Thank You

Honoring those who fought in war,
For those who hid among the roar
Of gunshots and cannons on the shore.
We thank you!

Risking your life on land and air,
You battled to show you care,
For America you did your share.
We thank you!

Now in our beds we lay,
Thinking of how you helped in so many ways,
Freely we can say,
"Happy Veterans' Day!"

I've been told many times that I have a writing talent. By teachers, by parents, and by friends. What do you think of this poem? Tell me in the comments section below!

Tips on Staying Calm

Hi!

It's Tween Blogger again. Have you ever gotten really nervous, so much that you can hardly think straight? Yeah, me too. Having played the piano for so long, I've done quite a bit of tests and recitals. I learned how to take care of these emotions. Here's how:

  1. Take deep breaths. Trust me, it helps.
  2. When you are actually doing it, concentrate. Clear your mind and focus.
  3. Have fun! I mean, you wouldn't be doing it unless you like it, right?
  4. If you mess up, don't panic. Just keep going and act like nothing has happened.
  5. Do your best! That's all that matters!
Try tips these the next time you're going to perform or something like that. Then tell me how they worked out for you in the comments section below!

Good luck!

Book Review

Hi Readers!

This is Tween Blogger, and I've got another book review! You know, reading is good for you. You never know what you might find that's interesting. Anyway, this book is called A Corner of White. It's by Jaclyn Moriarty. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this book! So, a girl named Madeleine finds a message portal sorta thing. She's in Cambridge, BTW. The portal thing is only big enough for letters, and she starts to send letters to this guy named Elliot. Now, he's in the magical Kingdom of Cello. It's like two different worlds in contact. His portal hole is the inside of a broken TV (Kingdom of Cello is not fairy wings and wands, there's just a lot of things. Just read the book.) and Madeleine's is a broken parking meter. They switch letters, and they give each other advice. Never seeing each other. But they each have their own love life. There's a little bit of teenage romance. Take a look at this AWESOME book!

Fun Game

Happy Thursday!

Hi readers. Today I have a game that my teacher told me and my class about. It's really fun!

Zoom, Eek.

How to play:
Get in a big circle, arms length apart.
Say Zoom over your right shoulder and Eek over your left shoulder. Practice.
Choose one person to start.
Say Zoom around in the circle so that everybody gets a chance to say it.
Then say Zoom or Eek!

How to get out:
Don't take too long to decide which one you want to say. This is a quick game.
Say Zoom or Eek over the wrong shoulder, you're out.
Switch Zoom to Eek or vice versa three times in a row and you'll be out.

The more people, the more fun! Try this game, then tell me the results in the comments section!

Have Fun!

Book Review

What's Up, Readers?

I have another book review for you. I read a lot of books. If you visit my profile, you'll be able to see what I like. Well, reading is on there. This is actually a series. It is called The Series of Unfortunate Events. If you've heard of it, great. If not, give the first book a read. It hooks instantly. In the series, three siblings: Violet (oldest), Klaus (middle), and Sunny (infant) face lots of misfortune. It starts out when their parents die in a fire that also burned down their mansion. They jump around from house to house as someone keeps trying to snatch their money. Their parents left behind lots of money, and this guy, Count Olaf, keeps trying to take it. It must be pretty annoying because Count Olaf is always in disguise, and by the time the adults find out, he always escapes. There are 13 books total, and I'm already on book 10. Try it. Take a look at these books!

See ya later!

Poem

Here's a poem that I wrote a while back:
My Worlds
I have many different worlds, and they are all unique.
For while most people have one, I have three.
All of them are special in some kind of way.
'Cause when you're feeling down they are sure to make your day!

Nature World is beautiful with all those pretty flowers,
The sweet smelling scent and plentiful rain showers.
The clean flowing river, the comfortable sun.
Make this world great for everyone!

Next, is Candy World and it's the sweetest of them all.
For it's all about sugar down at Candy Hall.
Hug a gummy, chew a jawbreaker.
With a field of lollipops bigger than an acre!

Finally, it's Music World, where instruments take place.
The singsong notes put a smile on your face.
The air is filled with cheery songs.
It makes you want to stay for very, very long.

Now you know my worlds, now you know my themes.
I used imagination, it's all that really means.
You can do it to, I know it's in your heart.
It's a piece of you mind, it's a work of your art!

Tell me what you think in the comment's section!

Thanks!

Tips on Being a Good Friend

Hi Readers!

I'm back with some tips on how to have a good friendship. Sometimes you and your friend may have a few arguments. Here are a few things you can do to help the relationship:

  1. Don't fight back. If your friend is being mean to you, don't do the same thing. Just be polite.
  2. In an argument, you may find that you want to say some hurtful things. Hold them back with a strategy that works for you (ex: counting to ten, taking deep breaths, etc).
  3. Try to reason with your friend. Work out a compromise that you both agree on. That way no one feels as if they're not as important.
  4. When the argument is over, never, ever hold a grudge. Don't bring it up again. The past is past.
